And the winner is…..
This is the electric tea kettle that my husband ordered for me when I cracked the on the stove top glass tea kettle I had been using. (Here is the original post if you want to read it about some different options: Click Here ) And my opinion of it? Simply put, I love the Ovente 1.5 liter BPA free glass cordless electric kettle! And I wonder why I didn’t get one sooner!
I use it on a daily basis when I am at home. (Right now I am in a rental unit in the Dominican Republic and there is no electric tea kettle. I am now using a gas range to boil water in a sauce pan. Not exactly a horrible thing to need to do, but I will tell you, it makes me appreciate this new additional to my personal kitchen.) I make espresso and coffee each morning and usually make hot tea in the evening.
One of the reasons we picked this electric tea kettle is the fact that it is made of glass and we can see the water level and know when it is boiling. I was initially wondering about not hearing the tea pot whistle to know it was boiling, but the blue light shuts off when the water has boiled, which is a quieter way of knowing the water is ready. 😉
Do you have a favorite tea? I enjoy a variety of teas—English Breakfast, Earl Grey, as well as regular ole black tea. Several years ago my husband brought home a box of Good Earth Sweet & Spicy tea bags, and I must say it has become my favorite evening tea. The version I purchase is caffeine free so I enjoy it in the evening when watching tv/movie and having a night time snack. It has a slight sweetness to it so it doesn’t need any sweetener added; and I have found it make a mighty nice glass of iced tea the next day if I don’t drink it all at night.

This electric tea kettle boils water at an amazingly quick speed. I had read the using it to boil water before making pasta was a time saver so I tried it. Yep! It saved time for sure when I was making pasta for dinner.
I did follow the instructions in the booklet that came with the kettle regarding deposits on the bottom of the kettle. I mixed vinegar and water per the instructions and turned the kettle one. Once it boiled, I unplugged it and let it sit for 5 hours (instructions said 5-8 hours) and then poured out the mixture. I did rinse it twice and then boiled water in it once which I dumped (altho the instruction book did not say to do so). Kettle looks just like it did the day I got it!
Definitely a five star rating for me for this electric tea kettle. 🙂 If you are in the market for an electric tea kettle, I can honestly say that you will be happy with this one. I know I am! Let’s make it a great day!
